Just like any good place of study, this academy provides all the necessary tools and opportunities to achieve excellence. I came out here with the intention of staying 6 months, but upon meeting Guo Xinmin Sifu- someone who exceeded my expectations and dreams of martial arts (and I've watched a lot of kung fu movies)- and seeing how incredible the older students were, winning gold medals in international competitions in Hong Kong and Beijing, I knew I wanted more. I've now been here almost 15 months, and in that time I've matured in morals and developed my martial arts tenfold to the rate I did in normal life. Life can be magical, and Kunyushan has made it so for me.Zihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05649367012222681023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5940639955707885769.post-62599508002601983722013-06-18T06:33:18.269-07:002013-06-18T06:33:18.269-07:00that muscular gramps!

I truly love sanda matches for exactly the reason that they allow me to test out my liangong and technique under a high pressure environment.

I'm sure you'll learn the strategies you need to in order to succeed, but if I could offer one point to keep in mind based off of your entry, it would be:

*don't discount punching to the abdomen. A good solid punch to the head is always nice, but a punch to the chest and stomach (especially the stomach) is relatively difficult to maneuver around (from the angle), and takes a LOT of energy away from your opponent. A couple really good wheel punches to the stomach, and s/he just won't have the energy to continue.

Keep up the good work. I don't know if I told you, but I injured my thumbs a little while ago, and they're talking a hell of a long time to heal, but I've really been itching to spar again. It's great you have this opportunity. Xing Yi has a lot of similarities to Wing Chun in that is it based on straight lines and moves forward into the opponent giving them no chance to hit back. On the other hand Ba Gua evades and moves round, using a lot of evasions, and then following up with take downs and stuff. I think both styles work well together as they are complementary, so I could see how Wing Chun could also complement something like Ba Gua.
As to pros and cons, I am only a beginner in Ba Gua, so I cant judge. But I do have experience in a Wing Chun, and I feel that Wing Chun is very effective street fighting, but is limited in its scope to attain a high level of mind and body, as it is only a fighting art, and needs supplementary qigong, and physical conditioning. Ba Gua I think is very difficult to learn, and would take a long time to be able to use it. These are just my opinions, but hope they help.曾潇垚https://www.blogger.com/profile/06771900561030417475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5940639955707885769.post-29428622994647512572009-10-21T06:27:50.907-07:002009-10-21T06:27:50.907-07:00Hiya Will!

You seem to say it's good for a smaller person defending against a larger opponent, which is what is said about Wing Chun. You also say it uses circular motions, whilst Wing Chun, which does have a few circular motions, tends to focus on angles of attack.

Since the two styles have the same goal (allowing a smaller person to defend against a larger person), but different approaches (circular vs angles), what are your thoughts on the two styles?
